DAEGU, Sept. 3 (Yonhap) -- South Korean Yoo Byung-hoon won the silver medal and compatriot Jung Dong-ho took the bronze in the unofficial men's 400-meter wheelchair race at the World Championships in Athletics Saturday.

Yoo came in 50.69 seconds behind Germany's Richard Colman who finished in 49.36. Jung's time was 50.76.

The physically challenged athletes competed in the T53 category, which is for amputees or those with spinal cord injury who have limited movement in their abdominals.

In the women's 800-meter wheelchair event, Kang Kyung-sun, also of South Korea, ended in eighth place at 2 minutes and 33.18 seconds.

The unofficial events have been held as part of the world athletics championships since 2005, jointly organized by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). The medals don't count toward the standings.
