SEOUL, June 27 (Yonhap) -- CJ Foodville Corp., South Korea's largest restaurant franchise, said Wednesday it has opened its first bakery in Hanoi in a bid to tap deeper into the fast-growing market.
The new outlet raises the number of its bakery brand Tous Les Jours shops in Vietnam to 16, with 15 currently operating in Ho Chi Minh City.
Tous Les Jours was the first South Korean bakery company to make inroads into the Southeast Asian market by launching an outlet in 2007.
CJ Foodville now has 51 Tous Les Jours stores overseas, including the United States and China. The company has an estimated 1,300 stores in South Korea.
CJ Foodville said it also plans to establish its first bakery shop in Malaysia and Cambodia this year.
SPC Group, another South Korean food franchise with bakery brand Paris Baguette, also opened its second shop in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday, while aiming to open three additional stores in the country this year.
