Asia's agricultural officials to attend ODA conference

SEOUL, Nov. 15 (Yonhap) -- South Korea will host a conference on the official development aid (ODA) program with seven Asian nations this week to exapand cooperation in the farming industry, Seoul's agriculture ministry said Wednesday.

The first round-table conference of ODA will be held in downtown Seoul on Thursday and Friday, with senior agricultural officials from Myanmar, the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos and Mongolia present.

Experts from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), World Bank and the Asian Development Bank will also attend the conference to share development strategies.

"South Korea is the only country that has turned from an aid recipient to a donor. We hope to share expertise with Asian nations contribute to development in their agricultural sector" said Kim Kyung-kyu, a senior official at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
