SEJONG, Feb. 14 (Yonhap) -- Some 48 trillion won (US$44.3 billion) worth of Treasurys are due this year, with foreign investors holding some 90 trillion won worth of state bonds at the end of last year, data showed on Wednesday.

According to the data compiled by the finance ministry, a total of 47.9 trillion won in Treasurys mature this year.

Last year, the government sold a total of 100.8 trillion won in debts to refinance or pay back maturing debt, the ministry said.

The government also raised the portion of Treasurys with a maturity of 20 years or more to 30.1 percent last year against its total debt offering from 25.3 percent the previous year.

At the end of last year, the yield on benchmark three-year Treasurys reached 2.135 percent, up 49.7 basis points from a year ago, in tandem with a rise in market rates caused by a rate hike by the Bank of Korea and with three rounds of rate increases by the U.S. Federal Reserve.

The turnover of Treasurys reached 13.2 trillion won on a daily basis last year, down from 16.1 trillion won a year earlier.
