SEOUL, May 22 (Yonhap) -- The funeral for late LG Group Chairman Koo Bon-moo was held Tuesday, with mourners bidding farewell to the business tycoon who led the country's fourth-largest conglomerate for more than two decades.

The funeral service took place at Seoul National University Hospital in Seoul, with his family and company executives in attendance.

The bereaved family decided to carry out a simple and private funeral in accordance with the will of the late businessman, according to LG.

Koo died Sunday at the age of 73, after going through several brain surgeries earlier this year. He was recently admitted to the hospital after his condition got worse.

Koo, the grandson of LG Group's founder Koo In-hwoi, is survived by his wife, two daughters and 40-year-old adopted son Koo Kwang-mo, who is seen as the heir to the LG conglomerate.
