SEOUL, July 11 (Yonhap) -- SK Telecom Co., South Korea's top mobile carrier, on Wednesday showcased NUGU Candle, the latest products of the artificial-intelligence (AI) speaker series.

The company said NUGU Candle was inspired by the growing market for light-emitting diode (LED) products. NUGU Candle emits 17 colors of light, providing users with a wide range of choices for different environments.

SK Telecom said NUGU Candle is an AI speaker optimized for bedrooms, distinct from other devices on the market, which are mostly placed in living rooms.

The speaker's "Sunrise Morning Call" feature turns on the light gradually 30 minutes before the designated time while playing nature sounds, allowing users to wake up comfortably.

Standing 16.8 centimeters tall, SK Telecom said NUGU Candle also boasts improved audio compared with the NUGU Mini. The price tag on the device stands at 149,000 won (US$133).

Users can enjoy various features from the original NUGU speaker, such as checking weather, listening to radio and ordering food.

SK Telecom said it also plans to release NUGU Button next week, which can be attached on the steering wheel of automobiles.

Users can click on the button of the product to activate SK Telecom's navigation application. It does not come with AI-speaker related features.

"Our goal is to allow customers to naturally use SK Telecom's AI platform NUGU at any time and in any place," the company said, adding that it will continue to roll out various AI devices down the road.
