SEOUL, Nov. 9 (Yonhap) -- NCSOFT Corp., a major online game publisher in South Korea, said Friday its third-quarter net profit nose-dived 65.67 percent from a year earlier amid the absence of new games.

Net profit for the July-September period came to 94.4 billion won (US$84.2 million) on a consolidated basis, compared with 275 billion won a year earlier, the company said in a regulatory filing.

Sales fell 44.47 percent to 403.8 billion won and operating income declined 57.59 percent to 139 billion won during the cited period.

On the previous day, the gamemaker unveiled five new massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPG) for the mobile platform, including the much-anticipated "Line 2M." The follow-up to the mega-hit mobile game "Lineage M" is slated to be launched by the first half of next year, it said.

Shares of NCSOFT were trading at 443,500 won on the Seoul bourse as of 9:16 a.m., up 1.26 percent from the previous session's close. The earnings were released before the market opened.
