S. Korea's Pohang Steelers win Asian Champions League

SEOUL, Nov. 7 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's Pohang Steelers won the 2009 Asian Champions League on Saturday, beating Saudi champs Al Ittihad 2-1.

In the League final held earlier in the day at Tokyo's National Stadium, the Steelers, this year's Korean league title holder, held the lead throughout the match.

The Steelers became South Korea's first Asian champions since 2006. Four-time Korean league champions and two-time winners of the previous Asian club championship in the late 1990s, the squad booked their spot in FIFA's Club World Cup to be held in Abu Dhabi next month.
