(LEAD)(Winter Olympics) Mo Tae-bum ranks fifth in men's 1,500m speed skating

VANCOUVER, Feb. 20 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's Mo Tae-bum, the winner of men's 500 meter speed skating event at the Vancouver Winter Olympics, finished fifth in the 1,500m event on Saturday.

   Mo, who grabbed the 500m gold and the 1,000m silver in a surprise performance, clocked in at 1:46.47 in the 1,500m race at the Richmond Olympic Oval to rank fifth among 37 players.

   Skating in the same pair with Trevor Marsicano of the United States, the 21-year-old briefly stood on the top of the scoreboard, but Mark Tuitert of the Netherlands crossed the finish line in 1:45.57 to claim gold.

   Shani Davis of the United States, winner of the men's 1,000m event, finished second with 1:46.10 and Norway's Havard Bokko came in third with 1:46.13.

   Two other South Korean athletes -- Lee Jong-woo and Ha Hong-sun -- finished 22nd and 31st, respectively.
