NEW YORK, Aug. 9 (Yonhap) -- The 2015 KCON -- a K-pop festival hosted by South Korea's leading content and media company, CJ E&M -- drew to a successful close in New Jersey on Saturday night.

Girls' Generation, AOA, Teen Top and VIXX performed their own hits and popular American songs before some 8,000 fans at Prudential Center in Newark as the fourth annual KCON wrapped up with its first appearance on the U.S. East Coast.

Launched in 2012, KCON is North America's largest annual Korean cultural festival, combining K-pop concerts and a marketplace showcasing a variety of Korean products and trends.

The 2014 event took place only in Los Angeles and Irvine, California. For 2015, CJ E&M took the show to Japan in April before coming to the United States -- first at Staples Center in downtown LA from July 31 to Aug. 2 and then Prudential Center.

Last year's event attracted some 43,000 fans. This year, organizers said 87,000 fans in total checked out the festivities in Japan and the U.S.

On Saturday alone, about 9,000 people attended the K-pop convention, while another 8,000 showed up for the concert.
