S. Korean bobsleigh tandem finishes fifth in season finale at home
PYEONGCHANG, South Korea, March 18 (Yonhap) -- South Korean two-man bobsleigh team Won Yun-jong and Seo Young-woo finished fifth in the season finale at home on Saturday.
Won, the pilot, and Seo, his brakeman, posted a time of 1:41.22 after two runs at the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) World Cup at Alpensia Sliding Centre in PyeongChang, the 2018 Winter Olympics host lying some 180 kilometers east of Seoul.
The South Koreans were in second place after the first run at 50.44 seconds, just 0.20 behind Francesco Friedrich and Thorsten Margis of Germany.
In the second run, Won and Seo only had the 11th-best time with 50.78 seconds.
Friedrich and Margis won the gold with 1:40.82, and also clinched the overall World Cup title.
Oskars Kibermanis and Matiss Miknis of Latvia finished second, 0.30 second behind the Germans.

Won and Seo became the first South Korean team to win an overall World Cup title last season, but they've fallen on hard times this season, compounded by their struggles to adjust to the new sled.
They failed to win a race all season, and had finished outside the top 10 at two previous World Cups before PyeongChang.
The PyeongChang World Cup will conclude with the four-man bobsleigh Sunday.
