S. Korean bobsleigh team finishes seventh in season's final World Cup
PYEONGCHANG, South Korea, March 19 (Yonhap) -- South Korean four-man bobsleigh team led by Won Yun-jong finished seventh at the season finale on home track on Sunday.
The quartet, which also included Kim Jin-su, Jun Jung-lin and Oh Jea-han, posted a time of 1:40.35 after two runs at the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) World Cup at Alpensia Sliding Centre in PyeongChang, the 2018 Winter Olympics host lying some 180 kilometers east of Seoul.
The South Koreans were in seventh place after the first run at 50.17 seconds, and also had the seventh-best time in the second run with 50.18 seconds.
Their best World Cup result this season was the fifth place at Lake Placid last December.
The Russian team, led by Alexander Kasjanov, won the gold in 1:39.96, beating the Switzerland quarter, with pilot Rico Peter, by 0.23 second.
Kasjanov's quartet also clinched the overall World Cup title with this victory, leaving Peter's team in second place.
