SEOUL, Aug. 8 (Yonhap) -- President Moon Jae-in on Tuesday sought attention and support for the upcoming 2018 PyeongChang Winter Games to be held early next year.

"I was appointed an honorary ambassador for the Winter Olympics 200 days ahead of the event, but only 185 days are left now," Moon said on his Twitter account. "Please send encouragement to all those people working hard to successfully hold the event, including our athletes, Gangwon Province and the organizing committee."

The president was named the honorary ambassador for South Korea's first winter Olympics last month.

The quadrennial event will go on in the rural county of PyeongChang, some 180 kilometers east of Seoul, from Feb. 9 to 25.
