(LEAD) (Asiad) S. Korean Jang Kyung-gu wins gold in men's road race cycling

INCHEON, Sept. 28 (Yonhap) -- South Korean cyclist Jang Kyung-gu won the gold medal in the men's road race at the Incheon Asian Games on Sunday.

After racing 13 laps of the 14-kilometer road track of the Songdo Road Cycling Course for a total 182 km in the port city, Jang came in first among 48 racers from 26 countries after clocking in at 4:07:52.

The silver and bronze went to Iran's Moazami Godazi and Hong Kong's Leung Chun Wing, respectively.

Jang and Mozami were part of a 15-rider break that led most of the 182 km race around the southern part of this city. The front group reformed during the 12th lap when Jang won the sprint against Mozami.

It is the host country's first Asiad gold in the cycling road race since Kim Yong-mi snatched the gold in the women's event at the 2002 Busan Asian Games.

Park Sung-baek, who was disqualified for interference in the individual road race at the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games after coming in first, came in 16th.

South Korean female cyclist Na Ah-reum is slated to participate in the women's road race at the same venue Monday, aiming for her fourth medal in Incheon.
