Late SHINee singer Kim Jong-hyun's album gets posthumous release 2018/01/24 10:52

SEOUL, Jan. 24 (Yonhap) -- The final work by the late artist Kim Jong-hyun of the boy band SHINee has been posthumously released.

The album, "Poet|Artist," released on Jan. 23, has 11 tracks across a wide musical spectrum, including the electro-pop "Shinin," the synth-pop "Only One You Need," the pop ballad "Take The Dive" and the R&B "Grease."

Kim wrote the lyrics for all songs except "Take The Dive" and composed every song except "Only One You Need." The singer took his own life on Dec. 18 after a harrowing battle against depression.

"We hope that the thoughts of Jonghyun, who loved music more than anyone else and worked to communicate through music, will be delivered to the fans," his agency S.M. Entertainment said, using the late singer's stage name.

The proceeds of the album will be delivered to his mother and used to create a foundation for the needy, according to the agency.
