SEOUL, Feb. 13 (Yonhap) -- Another hit single by South Korean boy band BTS was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the group's agency said Tuesday.
"RIAA certified BTS' 'DNA' as a gold digital single last Friday (local time)," Bit Hit Entertainment said in a release.
It became the second BTS song to be certified gold by RIAA following the remix of "MIC Drop" about a week earlier. The remix was the second K-pop song to gain an RIAA certification after Psy's "Gangnam Style," which went multiplatinum in 2012 and 2013, for its digital and physical versions, respectively.
To be certified gold by the RIAA, a song must move more than 500,000 equivalent units between digital downloads and audio and video streaming, with 150 streams counting as one formal unit.
"DNA" is the title track off the group's hit album "Love Yourself:Her" released in September. The song topped iTunes' charts of 32 countries around the world and ranked 67th on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart upon its release.
