SEOUL, April 20 (Yonhap) -- "Believer," a new Korean crime-thriller about a cop's struggle to arrest Asia's largest drug-trafficking ring, had a press conference in Seoul on April 19.
A remake of "Drug War" (2013) by Johnny To, a renowned Hong Kong filmmaker, the new movie was directed by Lee Hae-young, best known for "The Silenced" (2014) and "Like A Virgin" (2006).
Cho Jin-young stars as Won-ho, a cop striving to hunt down the boss of Asia's largest drug ring based in South Korea while rising young star Ryu Jun-yeol plays Rak, an abandoned member of the organization who combines forces with Won-ho. Actor Cha Seung-won takes the cameo role of Brian, a mysterious member of the drug ring.
"Believer" opens in local theaters on May 24.
