S. Korean telecom giant KT to adopt telecommuting
By Lee Youkyung
SEOUL, Aug. 23 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's telecom giant KT Corp. said Monday that it will embrace a telework system from next month in an effort to help working mothers raise children and save costs.

Under the novel system, a total of 20 employees -- working mothers, researchers and backup office workers -- will initially be allowed to work at home or at one of the company's upcoming "smart working" centers, KT said.
To that end, the company plans to open the first smart working center at its branch in Bundang, on the southern outskirts of Seoul, in September and to launch nine such centers before December. By 2012, it will expand the number to 30 centers nationwide.
