Seoul to enforce no-smoking ordinance from next year
By Kim Eun-jung
SEOUL, Oct. 5 (Yonhap) -- The Seoul city council said Tuesday it would seek an ordinance imposing fines for smoking in banned public places from next year, joining a national effort to curb damage from secondhand smoke.

The ordinance, when approved as expected, would enforce a 100,000 won (US$81) fine on those who smoke in prohibited areas designated by the city. These mostly public areas include bus stops, city parks, school zones, playgrounds and gas stations.
