Appellate court reverses ruling in Hyundai bribery case
SEOUL, Aug. 22 (Yonhap) -- A Seoul appellate court on Friday sentenced a former head of the Finance Ministry's policy bureau to a five-year prison term for taking bribes from Hyundai Motor Co. affiliates in exchange for writing off part of their debts.
Byeon Yang-ho was also ordered to pay restitution of 150 million won (US$141,000) for money he received from Hyundai affiliates in 2001 and 2002.
