WASHINGTON, Jan. 27 (Yonhap) -- A top U.S. official on North Korea will visit Russia next week to discuss ways to deal with Pyongyang under a new leadership, the State Department said Friday.
"Special Representative for North Korea Policy Glyn Davies will travel to Russia January 31 - February 3 to deepen cooperation and share perspectives on North Korea," it said in a press release.
He plans to meet with senior Russian officials, including Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov and Ambassador-at-Large for Six-Party Talks Grigoriy Logvinov, it added.
The six-way negotiations aimed at denuclearizing the North have been stalled for years. The talks are also joined by South Korea, China, and Japan.
Davies will be accompanied by Clifford Hart, special envoy for the six-party talks, according to the department.
It also announced that Kurt Campbell, assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, will travel to South Korea next Tuesday and Wednesday to "discuss a range of bilateral, regional, and global issues, including recent developments in North Korea."
He will then travel to Vietnam and Cambodia, it said.
