(LEAD) Seven people killed in explosion of chemical-storing tank
YEOSU, South Korea, March 14 (Yonhap) -- Seven workers were killed and 13 others injured Thursday when a chemical storage tank exploded in an industrial plant in the southern coastal city of Yeosu, fire fighters said.

   The tank storing polyethylene exploded in the plant owned by Daelim Industrial Co. around 9:00 p.m., according to the fire fighting authorities.

   The explosion killed seven South Korean workers and seriously injured 13 others, they said, adding that those injured were sent to a nearby hospital.

   Welding work was being done when the tank exploded, the fire-fighters said.
