N. Korea's top party official dies

SEOUL, Dec. 30 (Yonhap) -- Kim Yang-gon, Pyongyang's top party official handling inter-Korean affairs, died in a traffic accident Tuesday, North Korean state media said. He was 73.

"Comrade Kim Yong-gon, a Workers' Party secretary who also is a member of the WP Central Committee Politbureau, and a representative to the DPRK Supreme People's Council, died in traffic accident at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday at age 73," the North's Korean Central News Agency reported Wednesday.

DPRK stands for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the North's official name.
