S. Korea expresses condolences over Iran, Iraq earthquake

SEOUL, Nov. 14 (Yonhap) -- South Korea on Tuesday expressed its condolences to the people of Iran and Iraq where a powerful earthquake killed hundreds.

Around 400 people were found dead in the earthquake that hit the border between Iran and Iraq on Sunday. Some 6,500 people were injured, according to the Iranian government.

"The government expresses deep consolation and condolences to the governments and peoples of Iran and Iraq," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

"The government hopes that the people could promptly get back to normal upon speedy recovery work in the affected area," the ministry said.
