(4th LD) Taliban releases 8 Korean hostages, reportedly kills one

SEOUL, July 26 (Yonhap) -- The Taliban Wednesday released eight of 23 South Korean hostages in Afghanistan, officials here said, amid reports that one of the hostages was killed as the Afghan government failed to free Taliban prisoners.
The South Korean government, however, would not officially confirm or deny the reports on the release of the hostages, apparently in order not to adversely affect further negotiations to win the release of the remaining captives.
