(LEAD) Defense minister defends book ban despite constitutional appeal
By Byun Duk-kun SEOUL, Oct. 23 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's defense minister threatened to punish a group of military law officers Thursday for filing a petition with the Constitutional Court to lift a ban on 23 books labeled as being pro-North Korea.
"It was not an appropriate act by the law officers, as they are tasked with enforcing discipline within the military," Minister Lee Sang-hee said during a regular audit of his ministry by the parliamentary defense committee.
