(2nd LD) S. Koreans flee from terrorists in Mumbai hotel

NEW DELHI, Nov. 27 (Yonhap) -- All 26 South Koreans escaped unharmed from a Mumbai hotel where a group of heavily-armed terrorists took foreign guests hostage, diplomats here said Thursday.

The South Korean Consul General in Mumbai, Kim Dong-yeon, and the 25 others, mostly businesspeople, had been marooned in the Taj Majal Hotel after the gunmen stormed it on Wednesday night, they said. The Koreans were attending a dinner event.

"Consul General Kim and 21 others got out of the hotel first and the other four also left it later," an embassy official said. "All of them are unharmed."
Groups of gunmen, presumed to be Islamic militants, went on a shooting rampage at the Taj Majal and several other hotels, restaurants and streets late Wednesday night, killing more than 80 people and injuring scores of others, according to local police. Bomb explosions also went off around the city, police said.
