State-run laboratory exports advanced nanoimprinting technology
SEOUL, March 15 (Yonhap) -- A state-run laboratory said Monday that it has exported nano-level imprinting technology capable of enhancing the capabilities of medical imaging equipment.
The locally-developed nanoimprinting technology fabricates patterns smaller than 30 nanometers in size, which enables an image sensor, made with the technology, to detect 10 times more details than present devices, the Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials (KIMM) said. A nanometer is equal to one-billionth of a meter.
