Top singer files complaint against composer of copied songs
SEOUL, July 1 (Yonhap) -- Pop singer Lee Hyo-ri's agency, Mnet Media, said Thursday that it has filed a legal complaint against a composer who sold copied songs to the diva.
Lee admitted last month that six songs in her latest album were not original and identified them as songs by Bahnus, whose real name is Lee Jae-yong.
Mnet Media said in a press release it filed a complaint with the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office earlier in the day accusing Bahnus of fraud and business interference.
Immediately after the album "H-Logic" was released in April, suspicions of plagiarism emerged on the Internet and files of original songs from Canada, Britain and Norway were floated online.
Lee acknowledged on her fan Web site that the songs were copied ones and her agency was contacting the original musicians to apologize and clear the issue. Bahnus' academic background in Britain was also found to have been fabricated, Mnet said.
