SEOUL, Dec. 19 (Yonhap) -- North Korea test-fired a short-range missile into the sea off its east coast on Monday morning, a Seoul official said, hours after the North announced the death of leader Kim Jong-il.

The official confirmed the test-firing of a missile by the North's military but said he does not think it has anything to do with the leader's death.
