S. Korea to send protest letter on Japan FM's remarks over Dokdo
SEOUL/TOKYO, Aug. 24 (Yonhap) -- South Korea will send a letter to lodge a formal protest with Japan on Friday over the Japanese foreign minister's recent remarks about Seoul's easternmost islets of Dokdo, officials said Friday, keeping up diplomatic pressure on Tokyo over its "unjustified claims" to the islets.

The formal protest against Japanese Foreign Minister Koichiro Gemba comes a day after South Korea returned a protest letter from the Japanese prime minister to President Lee Myung-bak by registered mail as Tokyo refused to receive it in person, in the latest tit-for-tat amid heightened diplomatic tension.
