SEOUL, Dec. 5 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Group on Wednesday promoted Lee Jae-yong, the only son of Samsung Electronics Co. Chairman Lee Kun-hee, to vice chairman, a move that is seen as accelerating the third-generation management at South Korea's biggest family-owned conglomerate.

Lee Jae-yong's ascent comes two years after he was promoted one level to Samsung Electronics president from senior executive vice president.
