(LEAD)Rep. Royce urges freeze of more N. Korean assets abroad
By Lee Chi-dong
WASHINGTON, Dec. 5 (Yonhap) -- The incoming leader of the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Relations said Wednesday Washington should hunt for North Korean assets hidden in foreign nations, calling it one of the most effective tools to stop Pyongyang's nuclear and missile programs.

Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), selected last week as chairman of the key House panel, said North Korea's move to shoot a long-range rocket later this month demonstrates that its leader Kim Jong-un has "no real desire" to change the communist nation's "roguish behavior."

Royce, known for efforts to help resolve the North Korea issue and bolster South Korea-U.S. relations, will take office on Jan. 3, replacing Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL).
