Lawmakers call for Seoul to acquire nuclear deterrence to counter N.K. threat
SEOUL, Feb. 18 (Yonhap) -- Lawmakers from the ruling Saenuri Party on Monday called on Seoul to acquire a nuclear deterrence to counter the growing weapons of mass destruction (WMD) threat by North Korea.

Reps. Shim Jae-cheol and Yoo Ki-june said in a meeting of senior party policymakers that with Pyongyang flaunting its nuclear and long-range missile capabilities, there is a critical need for South Korea to strive for balance of power.
