60 pct of lawmakers, gov't officials increase fortune in 2013: data

SEOUL, March 28 (Yonhap) -- Despite a slow economic recovery, six out of 10 South Korean lawmakers and high-ranking civil servants saw their assets rise last year due mainly to an increase in the value of land holdings, data showed Friday.

According to the data published by the ethics committees of the country's legislative, administrative and judicial branches, 60.8 percent, or 1,423 out of the country's 2,339 senior officials, saw their assets rise in 2013.
