(9th LD) Two people dead, 293 missing in sunken ferry

SEOUL/JINDO, South Korea, April 16 (Yonhap) -- Military and Coast Guard divers went underwater to search a ferry that sank off South Korea's southern coast and killed two people Wednesday amid growing fears that many of 293 people still listed as unaccounted for could be trapped inside.

But poor underwater visibility and strong currents at the scene were hampering the divers from getting into the sunken vessel. More than 80 boats and 18 aircraft were also scouring the area in what could be one of the deadliest offshore accidents in South Korea's modern history.
