Funeral held for vice principal who committed suicide
ANSAN, South Korea, April 21 (Yonhap) -- A funeral was held on Monday for a high school vice principal who killed himself after being rescued from a sunken ferry, with rescue efforts underway to find more than 200 students and teachers still missing five days after the incident.
The 52-year-old official of Danwon High School committed suicide Friday by hanging himself outside a large gym where families of the missing passengers were camping, with desperate hope of finding their loved ones.
Of the 476 people on board the ship, 350 were high school students on their way to the resort island of Jeju for a four-day trip.
