SEOUL, Sept. 28 (Yonhap) -- Taiwanese singer Gemma, formerly known as Gui Gui, has released the music video for "SUGAR RUSH," a fast, funky song that uses sugar as a metaphor for her sweet charisma.

Also the lead track on her debut EP "GEMMA," the song portrays the heart-fluttering excitement of falling prey to her magnetism.

The repetitive guitar riffs and groovy bass, plus colorful loops help the song to stand out. The video was released in Chinese and Korean.

Branching out into the Korean market as a solo artist, Gemma has armed herself with a squad of prominent, international collaborators, including Korean music video directors Sung Won-mo and Park Sang-woo; U.S. producers Sevon Daze and Michael Jay, who collaborated with Celine Dion; and composer Kim Ji-hoo. Korean photographer Mok Na-jung and style director Hee Sun Choi also participated in the video's production.

Gemma debuted with Taiwanese girl group "Hey Girl" in 2006 as Gui Gui, and signed with CJ E&M as a solo artist in March 2016, when she changed her stage name. She first appeared in drama "Brown Sugar Macchiato" and has made many drama and TV appearances, including the international version of "We Got Married" in 2013, where she was in a faux marriage with 2PM singer Ok Taecyeon.
