SEOUL, Feb. 14 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's central bank said Wednesday it provided a net 5.17 trillion won (US$4.77 billion) in liquidity into the financial system to help with the flow of money ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.

The Bank of Korea said that its money injection for the 10 business days leading up to the holiday was slightly down from the previous year.

The holiday, which falls on Friday this year according to the lunar calendar, is one of Korea's biggest. Families gather to pay respects to their ancestors and visit relatives and friends.
