SINGAPORE, June 10 (Yonhap) -- U.S. President Donald Trump arrived in Singapore on Sunday, as he is set to hold a historic summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un this week.

Air Force One, which carried Trump, landed at Paya Lebar Air Base after a nearly 20-hour flight from Canada, where he attended the Group of Seven summit.

When asked how he feels about the summit, Trump said, "Very good," according to Reuters.

Earlier in the day, Kim arrived in Singapore after taking the longest flight for an overseas trip since he took office in late 2011.

Trump and Kim are scheduled to hold their summit on Tuesday at the Capella Hotel on Sentosa Island over the North's denuclearization in exchange for security assurance for the North Korean regime.

Trump told reporters Saturday that the upcoming summit will be a "one-time shot" to do something good for North Koreans.

He added that he will probably know "within the first minute" whether the North's leader is serious about the negotiations.

Washington and Pyongyang apparently stand apart as to the definition of denuclearization.

The U.S. has called for the North's complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization, while Pyongyang hopes to get rewards and relief from tough sanctions in the process of its denuclearization.
