SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from Sept. 6-12, 2007.

6 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says Foreign Minister Pak Ui-chun addressed the ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement on human rights and diversity of culture in Teheran, Iran, on Sept. 3.

   6 Yang Hyong-sop, vice president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), meets with the Chinese government cultural delegation led by Vice Minister of Culture Zhou Heping at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang.

   6 Kim Il-chol, minister of the People's Armed Forces, meets with Slamet Soebieanto, chief of the Indonesian navy, in Pyongyang.

   6 Slamet Soebieanto and his party visit the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt. Taesong in Pyongyang.

   6 The KCNA says Pak Ui-chun talked with his Iranian counterpart Manouchehr Mottaki in Tehran on Sept. 5.

   6 The State Academic Moiseyev Dance Company of Russia led by Director Elena Scherbakova flies into Pyongyang.

   6 A national scientific and technological presentation on bionics is held in Pyongyang under the sponsorship of the Central Committee of the (North) Korean General Federation of Science and Technology.

   6 A national angling contest is held on the bank of the Taedong River in Pyongyang.

   6 An art performance is given by the art squad of workers of the C.C., the General Federation of Trade Unions of (North) Korea and art groups of industrial establishments in Pyongyang at the Central Workers' Hall to celebrate the 59th anniversary of the DPRK (North Korea).

   6-7 A national seminar in fields of education and science takes place in Hamhung on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the foundation of Hamhung University of Chemical Engineering.

   7 Kim Yong-nam, president of the SPA Presidium, sends a message of greetings to Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva, Brazil's president, on the occasion of the 185th independence day of Brazil.

   7 North Korean leader Kim Jong-il receives floral baskets and congratulatory letters from the diplomatic corps and the military attaches' corps in Pyongyang and a congratulatory letter from the economic and commercial councilors' corps in the capital on the occasion of the 59th birthday of the founding of the DPRK.

   7 Kim Yong-nam meets with the delegation of the Central Committee of the Fatherland Front of Vietnam led by its President Pham The Duyet at the Mansudae Assembly Hall.

   7 A national scientific and technological seminar in the field of conserving woodland, plants and land is held at the People's Palace of Culture 60 years after then President Kim Il-sung made public his work "Let Us Launch a Vigorous Tree Planting Movement Involving All the Masses" and 50 years after Kim Jong-il planted trees on Mt. Jang, the KCNA says.

   7 Moustafa Mohamed Ahmed Al Hatter, Egyptian ambassador to the DPRK, hosts a reception at the embassy in Pyongyang on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the DPRK's foundation.

   7 The fifth national show of Korean dresses, which took place in Pyongyang from Sept. 4 under the sponsorship of the Association of (North) Korean Dress-makers, comes to a close.

   8 Kim Jong-il, Kim Yong-nam and Kim Yong-il receive a message of greetings from Hu Jintao, president of China, Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress, and Wen Jiabao, premier of the State Council of China, on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the DPRK's foundation.

   8 A delegation of the China Association for International Friendly Contact led by Vice President Shen Weiping arrives in Pyongyang by air to mark the 59th anniversary of the founding of the DPRK.

   8 A Qatari delegation from Al-Jazeera Satellite Television led by its Director General Wadah Khanfar comes to Pyongyang.

   8 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of sympathy to Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika in connection with the suicide bombing attack in Algeria that claimed dozens of casualties.

   8 A national meeting is held at the April 25 House of Culture to mark the 59th anniversary of the DPRK's foundation.

   8 A music and dance performance celebrating the 59th anniversary of the founding of the DPRK is given at the Ponghwa Art Theatre.

   8 The visiting State Academic Moiseyev Dance Company of Russia gives its premiere performance at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre.

   9 Kim Jong-il receives a message of greetings from Russian President V. Putin on the 59th anniversary of the DPRK's foundation.

   9 Kim Jong-il receives a message of greetings from the Central Committee of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front on the 59th anniversary of the DPRK's foundation.

   9 Kim Jong-il receives a congratulatory letter from the Central Standing Committee of the pro-Pyongyang General Association of Korean Residents in Japan on the 59th anniversary of the founding of the DPRK.

   9 Senior party and state officials, the chairman of a friendly party, Cabinet members, deputies to the SPA in Pyongyang and leading officials of party and power organs, public organizations, ministries and national institutions visit the Kumsusan Memorial Palace to pay homage to Kim Il-sung on the occasion of the 59th birthday of the DPRK's foundation.

   9 Baskets of flowers are placed before the statues of Kim Il-sung on the occasion of the 59th birthday of the DPRK's foundation.

   9 Commanding officers of the (North) Korean People's Army visit the Kumsusan Memorial Palace on the 59th anniversary of the foundation of the DPRK.

   9 Wreaths are laid at the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt. Taesong as well as the Patriotic Martyrs Cemetery and floral baskets are laid before the Monument to Victory in the Fatherland Liberation War on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the DPRK's foundation.

   9 Dancing parties of students and other youth celebrating the 59th anniversary of the DPRK's foundation take place in Pyongyang, Phyongsong, Sariwon, Kanggye, Hamhung, Chongjin and other provincial, city and county seats.

   9 The DPRK government gives a banquet at the People's Palace of Culture in the evening on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the foundation of the DPRK.

   9 Colorful functions take place in different parts of the country to celebrate the birthday of the DPRK.

   11 Kim Jong-il receives a large floral basket and a congratulatory card from former Indonesian President Megawati Soekarnoputri on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the founding of the DPRK.

   11 The KCNA says the Second National All-round Taekwondo Contest for the "September 10 Prize" was held recently.

   11 The KCNA says the 3rd meeting of the DPRK-China Committee for Cooperation in Economy, Commerce, Science and Technology took place in Beijing on Sept. 4.

   11 Kim Tae-sik, vice chairman of the Korean Medical Association in Japan, a delegation of Korean medical workers from the U.S. led by Kim Yoon-berm, professor emeritus of Chicago Medical School, and a delegation of South Korean medical workers led by Park Joon-young, chancellor of Eulji University, arrive in Pyongyang to participate in the 9th Pyongyang Symposium on Medical Science of compatriots from home and abroad.

   11 The DPRK women's football team ties the U.S. 2-2 in the first game of Group B of the 2007 Women's World Cup held in Chengdu, China.

   11 A group of U.S. nuclear experts headed by Sung Kim, a State Department official and envoy to six-nation talks on North Korea's nuclear program, travels to North Korea via the heavily fortified inter-Korean border to join two nuclear experts from Russia and China in surveying a nuclear complex under a February deal for disablement of the facilities which produce weapons-grade plutonium.

   11 Cuban Ambassador to the DPRK Jose Manuel Galego Montano hosts a reception on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the DPRK and Cuba.

   12 The KCNA says new stamps on the Fifth FIFA Women's World Cup have been published.

   12 Kim Yong-nam receives credentials from Namibian Ambassador to the DPRK Leonard Nambahu at the Mansudae Assembly Hall.
