SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea over Nov. 29 - Dec. 5, 2007.
November 29 Kim Yang-gon, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of (North) Korea (WPK) and a close aide of Kim Jong-il overseeing inter-Korean affairs, leaves Pyongyang for a visit to Seoul.
29 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says Premier Kim Yong-il sent a message of greetings to Owen Arthur, prime minister of Barbados, on the occasion of the 41st anniversary of his country's independence.
29 The KCNA says the head of a DPRK (North Korean) delegation declared closer cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the U.N. when addressing the 34th conference of the FAO on Nov. 21.
29 The KCNA says North Korean leader Kim Jong-il was presented with a gift by the visiting delegation of the Vietnam Farmers Union.
29 The KCNA says a meeting of journalists from the two Koreas was held in Pyongyang on Nov. 27.
29 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il was presented with a gift by a visiting delegation of cadres of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
29 Choe Thae-bok, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, meets with the delegation of cadres of the CPC led by Chen Quanguo, deputy secretary of the Henan Provincial Committee of the CPC.
29 The South Korean delegation led by Defense Minister Kim Jang-soo leaves Pyongyang after participating in the second inter-Korean defense ministerial talks, which were held for three days from Nov. 27.
29 A protocol of the 26th meeting of the consultative committee for economy and scientific technology and a protocol of exchange of commodities for 2008 between the governments of the DPRK and Cuba are inked in Havana.
30 Kim Yong-nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), sends a message of greetings to Francois Bozize, president of the Central African Republic, on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of the proclamation of the country.
30 The KCNA says representatives from the United States, China, Russia, South Korea and Japan, which are participating in the six-party talks, as well as nuclear experts, engaged on Nov. 28 in the disablement of nuclear facilities in Yongbyon which has been underway since Nov. 5, according to the agreement between the DPRK and the U.S.
30 The KCNA says a scops owl with an identification ring attached to its leg was found recently in Ryongsong District of Pyongyang.
30 Kim Yong-nam sends a congratulatory message to Pervez Musharraf upon his reelection as Pakistani president.
30 The minutes of the 14th talks on meteorological science and technology exchange and cooperation between the Hydro-Meteorological Service of the DPRK and the China Meteorological Administration are signed at the People's Palace of Culture in Pyongyang.
30 The national meeting of intellectuals opens at the April 25 House of Culture in Pyongyang.
December 1 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greetings to Choummaly Saynasone, president of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, on the occasion of its 32nd founding anniversary.
1 The KCNA says the ninth inter-Korean Red Cross talks took place at Mt. Kumgang resort on the North's east coast from Nov. 28 to Dec. 1.
1 The national meeting of intellectuals closes.
1 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greetings to Sheikh Halifa Bin Zayed Al Nahayan, president of the United Arab Emirates, on the occasion of its national day.
1 Kim Yang-gon returns home after wrapping up his three-day visit to the South.
1 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il inspected KPA Unit 1159.
1 The KCNA says Kim Yong-il sent a congratulatory message to Kevin Rudd on his election as prime minister of Australia.

3 The KCNA says the Korean Documentary and Scientific Film Studio has recently produced a documentary film called "Most Hideous Crimes against Humanity in 20th Century." 3 Ivancu Riviu Ovidiu, Romanian charge d'affaires ad interim in Pyongyang, hosts a reception on the occasion of the national day of Romania.
3 Kim Yong-nam sends a congratulatory message to Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej on the occasions of his birthday and the national day of Thailand.
4 The KCNA says male runner Ri Kum-song and female runner Phyo Un-suk of the DPRK won gold medals in the 26th Macao International Marathon Races held on Dec. 2, with Ri finishing in 2 hours, 17 minutes and 40 seconds and Phyo completing the race in 2 hours, 38 minutes and 27 seconds.
4 A North Korean delegation led by Vice Premier Jon Sung-hun flies out of Pyongyang to participate in the first meeting of the inter-Korean committee for economic cooperation to be held in Seoul.
4 Pak Ui-chun, minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK, meets with Christopher Hill at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang.
4 A delegation of officials in charge of foreign affairs of the Laotian People's Army led by Siphay Munduang, director of the External Relations Department of the Ministry of Defense, arrives in Pyongyang.
4 The KCNA says Pak Ui-chun sent a congratulatory message to Stephen Smith on his appointment as foreign minister of Australia.
4 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il inspected KPA Air Force Unit 378.
4 Miguel Angel Gala Valiente, military attache of the Cuban embassy in Pyongyang, hosts a reception at the Taedonggang Club for the Diplomatic Corps on the occasion of the 51st anniversary of the Cuban revolutionary armed forces.
5 Kim Yong-nam meets with the delegation of South Korea's Full Gospel Mission led by Director Cho Yong-gi at the Mansudae Assembly Hall. They visited on Dec. 3 Pyongyang for setting up a hospital.
5 Yang Hyong-sop, vice president of the SPA Presidium, meets with Christopher Hill, U.S. assistant secretary of State, and his party at the Mansudae Assembly Hall before their departure.
5 Inter-Korean military working-level talks take place at the Tongil House in Panmunjom to provide a military guarantee for railway freight transport from Munsan to Pongdong, according to the agreement reached at the second inter-Korean defense ministerial talks.
