SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from March 27-April 2, 2008.

27 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says the 50th anniversary of the Sinchon Museum, which it says has served as a center for anti-U.S. and class education in the DPRK (North Korea), was observed.

   27 The KCNA says Kim Yong-nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), on March 26 left Luanda after his official goodwill visit to Angola.

   27 The KCNA says Kim Yong-nam on March 26 sent a message of thanks to Angolan President Jose Eduardo Dos Santos after winding up his official visit to Angola.

   27 The KCNA says Kim Yong-nam arrived in Kinshasa on March 26 to pay an official goodwill visit to the Democratic Republic of Congo.

   27 The KCNA says talks were held between Kim Yong-nam and Joseph Kabila, president of the Democratic Republic of Congo, at the presidential palace on March 26.

   27 Joseph Kabila, president of the Democratic Republic of Congo, hosts a banquet at the Presidential Palace in honor of Kim Yong-nam.

   27 A press conference on the struggle for the release of the Cuban patriots unreasonably detained in the U.S. and the U.S. blockade against Cuba takes place at the Cuban embassy in Pyongyang.

   27 Kim Yong-nam arrives in Kampala to pay an official goodwill visit to Uganda.

   27 Kim Yong-nam pays a courtesy call on Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, president of the Republic of Uganda.

   28 The KCNA says DPRK wrestlers proved successful at the 2008 Asian Wrestling Championships, winning one gold medal, one silver medal and two bronze medals.

   28 A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs releases a statement blaming the U.S. for the stalled implementation of the October 3 agreement at the six-party talks.

   28 The KCNA says the DPRK is exerting great efforts to protect and propagate useful and ornamental animals.

   28 Choe Thae-bok, chairman of the SPA, meets Glyn Ford, member of the European Parliament from the British Labor Party, and his delegation at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang.

   29 The KCNA says North Korean leader Kim Jong-il was presented with a letter on March 15 by Alberto Anaya Gutierrez, coordinator of the National Coordinating Committee of the Workers' Party of Mexico, in connection with the 12th seminar of world political parties on building a new society held in Mexico.

   29 The KCNA says a friendly meeting with the delegation of the Workers' Party of (North) Korea (WPK) visiting Peru was held by the American Popular Revolutionary Alliance of Peru on March 24.

   29 A spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry blasts the adoption of what he calls an anti-DPRK resolution at the seventh session of the U.N. Human Rights Council.

   29 The KCNA says an event was held in India on March 23 to mark the 30th anniversary of the International Institute of the Juche Idea.

   29 The KCNA says Premier Kim Yong-il sent a congratulatory message to Yves Leterme upon his election as prime minister of Belgium.

   29 The head of the DPRK side's delegation to the inter-Korean general-level military talks sends a notice to the chief delegate of the South's delegation, clarifying the stand of the (North) Korean People's Army regarding what it said was a call for "a preemptive attack" by the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the South Korean forces.

   30 A military commentator of the KCNA blasts the comments of the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the South Korean forces in an article titled "South Korean military authorities should behave with discretion."

   31 The KCNA says Kimilsung University has recently produced the multimedia program "Library of Mt. Paektu" to provide comprehensive knowledge of plants and animals on the nation's highest mountain.

   31 The KCNA, says U.S. and South Korean forces committed at least 200 cases of aerial espionage against the DPRK in March with strategic and tactical reconnaissance planes, aggravating the situation on the Korean Peninsula, citing a military source.

   1 The KCNA says posters for the 1st National Art Festival for Commemorating the Day of the Sun, Kim Il-sung's birthday, have been produced.

   1 A delegation of the Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries led by its Acting Chairman Mun Jae-chol leaves Pyongyang to visit Latin American countries.

   1 A delegation of officials of the WPK led by Secretary of the Committee of the Ministry of Forestry of the WPK Paek Kye-ryong leaves Pyongyang for a visit to China.

   1 A new school year begins in the DPRK, as ceremonies marking the start of the school year take place at universities, colleges and middle and primary schools across the country.

   1 Kim Yong-nam returns home by special plane after wrapping up his official goodwill visits to Namibia, Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.
