SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from April 24-30, 2008.
24 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says an art performance was given by war veterans in Pyongyang at the Central Workers' Hall on April 23 to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the foundation of the (North) Korean People's Army (KPA).
24 The KCNA says a ceremony to commission the Pyongyang Paeksan Cigarette Joint Venture Company was held there on April 23.
24 The KCNA says the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces gave a reception for the military attaches corps in Pyongyang on April 23 on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the KPA's foundation.

27 The KCNA says agreements on establishing sister-city relations between the city of Haeju in South Hwanghae Province of the DPRK and the city of Guaranda in Bolivar Province of Ecuador, and between the city of Sunchon of South Phyongan Province of the DPRK and the city of Atuntaqui of Imbabura Province of Ecuador, were separately signed in Ecuador on April 21 and 23 on the occasion of the Day of the Sun.
27-28 The fifth inter-Korean conference of youth and student organizations for implementing the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration is held at Mt. Kumgang resort.
28 The flame for the 29th Olympic Games arrives in Pyongyang from Seoul.
28 Talks between the delegations of the WPK and the Bulgarian Socialist Party are held in Pyongyang.
28 Kim Yong-nam meets with the delegation of the Bulgarian Socialist Party at the Mansudae Assembly Hall.

28 The KCNA says the Pochonbo Electronic Band of the DPRK recently presented a new version of the song "Snow Falls," which was composed in 1965, with new instrumental music and lyrics.
28 A Ugandan party and government military delegation led by Amama Umbabazi, general secretary of the Uganda National Resistance Movement and minister of Security, arrives in Pyongyang.
28 The torch relay for the 29th Olympic Games is held in Pyongyang. Later in the day, the Olympic flame and the accompanying delegation headed by Li Binghua, executive vice president and representative of the Organizing Committee for the 29th Olympiad, leaves the city.
28 The WPK Central Committee hosts a banquet for the Ugandan party and government military delegation on a visit to the DPRK at the Mansudae Assembly Hall.
29 The KCNA quotes Ri Myong-san, vice minister of Foreign Trade, as saying, "The DPRK government will expand and develop multifarious economic cooperation and exchange with all countries of the world desirous of building a peaceful and fair new world on the principle of independence, equality and reciprocity in the future, too." The remarks came as Ri addressed the 12th meeting of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development held in Ghana from April 20 to 25.
