SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from May 1-7, 2008.
1 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of (North) Korea (WPK) gave a reception in honor of the visiting delegation of the Brazilian Communist Party headed by its National Chairman Jose Renato Rabelo on April 30.
1 The delegation of the Brazilian Communist Party visits the Kumsusan Memorial Palace in Pyongyang to pay homage to late President Kim Il-sung.
1 Senior officials of the party and state join working people in different parts of the country in marking May Day, the international holiday of all working people in the world.
1 The KCNA says North Korean leader Kim Jong-il enjoyed a performance given by the State Merited Chorus together with servicepersons of the (North) Korean People's Army (KPA) on the occasion of May Day.
1 Artistes of leading art troupes of the DPRK (North Korea) give performances in parks and pleasure grounds in Pyongyang to celebrate May Day.
1 Working people in different parts of the DPRK hold colorful functions to mark the 118th May Day.
2 Jang Ung, member of the International Olympic Committee and president of the International Taekwondo Federation, leaves Pyongyang after participating in the event for the Pyongyang leg of the torch relay for the 29th Olympic Games.
2 The KCNA says the book "General Kim Jong-il and Great National Unity" has recently been issued by the Pyongyang Publishing House.
2 Talks between the delegations of the WPK and the Brazilian Communist Party are held in Pyongyang before an agreement on cooperation between the two parties is inked.
3 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il was presented with gifts by Valeri Khalilov, director and chief conductor of the Military Band of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, and Trotsky Serano, president of the Canar Provincial Institute for the Friendship and Solidarity with the DPRK of Ecuador, on the occasions of the Day of the Sun and the 76th anniversary of the foundation of the KPA.
3 The KCNA says the 23rd national festival of science and technology took place at the Three-Revolution Exhibition from April 28 to May 2.

5-6 The 10th Pyongyang seminar on medical science of Koreans at home and abroad is held at the People's Palace of Culture.
6 The KCNA says the Nepal Journalist Association decided to award the "Nepalese International Peace Prize" to Kim Jong-il on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the DPRK's foundation.
6 A delegation of the Rodong Sinmun led by Kim Jung-hyop, its editor-in-chief, leaves Pyongyang for a visit to China.
6 The KCNA says Kimilsung University has recently established a computer multimedia literary library named "Mirae" (version 2.0).
6 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of sympathy to General Than Shwe, chairman of the Myanmar State Peace and Development Council, in connection with a tropical storm that hit the country, causing a large number of casualties and material losses.
7 The KCNA says the (North) Korean Documentary and Scientific Film Studio has produced several science films such as "Filtered and Magnetized Water Revitalizing Life."
7 A delegation of the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry led by Deputy Minister Vu Dung arrives in Pyongyang.
7 Sin Son-ho, new ambassador to the United Nations, presents his credentials to U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in New York, along with envoys from several other nations, to officially begin his service.
