SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from May 8-14, 2008.
8 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says a U.S. food aid delegation visited the DPRK (North Korea) from May 5 to 8.
8 The KCNA says the 3rd Symposium on Architectural Aesthetics was held in Pyongyang on May 7.
8 An agreement on cooperation between the DPRK Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry is signed in Pyongyang.
8 A friendly gathering with the members of a delegation of the Swiss National Women's Council headed by Anita Fahrni, president of the Committee for International Relations of the council, is held in Pyongyang.
8 The KCNA says North Korean leader Kim Jong-il inspected the command of (North) Korean People's Army (KPA) unit 927.
8 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il inspected the command of KPA Unit 351.
8-9 A conference of male members of the press from the two Koreas for implementing the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, which are the by-products of two inter-Korean summits, takes place in the North's scenic Mt. Kumgang resort.

10 A team of five U.S. officials led by Sung Kim, director of the State Department's Korea office, return to South Korea from a three-day trip to Pyongyang by crossing the military demarcation line at Panmunjom, the truce village in the demilitarized zone dividing the two Koreas. They carried several boxes of confidential papers on North Korea's plutonium-producing activity that had been handed over by the North.
12 The KCNA says a Korean "Paekho" art exhibition was held in Beijing from April 25 to 28 on the occasion of the Day of the Sun and the birthday of the KPA. The Day of the Sun is the birthday of the North's late President Kim Il-sung.
12 The KCNA says the Institute of Archaeology under the Academy of Social Sciences in the DPRK has discovered more than 70 dolmens belonging to Tangun's Korea which are inscribed with constellations while surveying dolmens in the Jongdong-ri area of Unchon County in South Hwanghae Province.
12 The KCNA says the Veterinary Institute under the Academy of Agricultural Science has developed a highly accurate kit for testing for the bird flu virus.
