SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from June 5-11, 2008.

5 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says an agreement with China on cooperation in the field of customs was signed in Beijing on June 3.

   5 Kim Yong-nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), receives credentials from Guatemalan Ambassador to the DPRK (North Korea) Rafael Antonio Salazar Galvez at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang.

   5 A DPRK delegation led by Kim Yong-sam, minister of Railways, leaves Pyongyang to participate in the 36th ministerial meeting of the Organization of Railways Cooperation, which will be held in Ukraine.

   5 Wreaths are laid in front of the statue of Kim Hyong-jik, grandfather of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il, in Ponghwa-ri of Kangdong County in Pyongyang and in front of his grave in Mangyongdae on the occasion of the 82nd anniversary of his demise.

   5 A national meeting takes place in Pyongyang to mark the 50th anniversary of the late President Kim Il-sung's work "On Increasing the Production of Consumer Goods and Improving Distribution of Goods."

   5 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il gave on-the-spot guidance at the reconstructed cultural establishment and renovated public catering centers in Pyongyang.

   5 A study tour of the revolutionary battle sites in the area of Mt. Paektu by school youth and children from across the country starts on the occasion of the passing of 52 years since Kim Jong-il opened the course for the tour.

   5 A national workshop on the occasion of World Environment Day is held at the People's Palace of Culture in Pyongyang.

   5 Roman Iwaszkiewicz, Polish ambassador to the DPRK, and officials of his embassy help members of the DPRK-Poland Friendship Jangsuwon Co-op Farm in Samsok District of Pyongyang in farm work.

   6 The KCNA says the Fukuoka Prefectural Japan-DPRK Friendship Association was formed in Japan on May 25.

   6 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greetings to Carl Gustaf, king of Sweden, on the occasion of its national day.

   6 The KCNA says all people of the DPRK are taking action to support rice transplantation activities in the countryside.

   6 A performance of the 47th art festival of schoolchildren from across the country takes place at the Pyongyang Schoolchildren's Palace to celebrate the 62nd anniversary of the founding of the (North) Korean Children's Union.

   6 Mats Foyer, Swedish ambassador to the DPRK, gives a reception at his embassy on the occasion of the national day of Sweden.

   7 The Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland calls for the annulment of "the agreement on mutual assistance of munitions" signed between the U.S. and the South Korean military 20 years ago, saying it was aimed at preparing for a war against the DPRK.

   7 North Korea and Japan agree to meet in Beijing on June 10-11 for official talks on resolving the abduction dispute and normalizing bilateral relations.

   8 The DPRK women's football team wins the 2008 Asian Women's Football Championship by defeating China 2-1 in the final.

   9 Foreign Minister Pak Ui-chun meets with new Nigerian Ambassador to the DPRK Yusuf Amuda Abubakar who paid a courtesy call on him.

   9 A delegation of the DPRK Information Committee headed by Minister of Culture Kang Nung-su leaves for Laos and Indonesia.

   9 Tarek Ahmed Mahpouz, Egyptian charge d'affaires ad interim in the DPRK, and staff members of his embassy help members of the Korea-Egypt Friendship Sosamjong Co-op Farm in Ryokpho District, Pyongyang, in farm work.

   9 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il inspected a sub-unit of (North) Korean People's Army (KPA) Unit No. 176 honored with the title of Ojunghup-led 7th regiment.

   9 A sports contest among provinces of the DPRK is opened at Chongjin Stadium in North Hamgyong Province, northeast of Pyongyang.

   10 The North's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issues a statement saying it opposes all forms of terrorism.

   10 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greetings to Anibal Cavaco Silva, president of Portugal, on the occasion of its national day.

   10 The KCNA says Pak Ui-chun sent a message to Mohamed Sabah Al Salem Al Sabah to congratulate him on remaining deputy prime minister and foreign minister of Kuwait.

   10 Palestinian Ambassador to the DPRK Mohammad Shahta Zarab and a staff member of his embassy visit the Korea-Palestine Friendship Oryu Co-op Farm in Sadong District, Pyongyang, to do work of friendship there.

   10 The Central Committee of the Workers' Party of (North) Korea arranges a friendly meeting with staff members of the Chinese embassy in Pyongyang on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Kim Jong-il's first visit to China.

   10 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il enjoyed a performance given by art groups of families of servicemen of various KPA units that participated in the first contest of the second term between art groups of KPA servicemen's families.

   10 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il inspected KPA Unit 958.

   10 North Korea's dialogue partners in the six-way talks on its nuclear program have a meeting in Seoul to discuss the supply of energy to the communist nation as promised under a deal signed last year.

   10-11 Sung Kim, director of the U.S. Department's Office of Korean Affairs, visits North Korea to discuss North Korea's disablement of its nuclear facilities.

   11 The KCNA says Kim Yong-nam sent a message of greetings to Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on June 3 on the occasion of the 110th independence of the country's anniversary.

   11 Kwak Tong-ui, co-chairman of the Overseas Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration, and delegates of the Japanese and U.S. regional committees of the Overseas Side Committee arrive in Pyongyang to participate in the meeting for national reunification commemorating the 8th anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration.

   11 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il inspected a sub-unit of KPA Unit 756.
