SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from June 26-July 2, 2008.
26 Kim Yong-nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), sends a message of greetings to Djiboutian President Ismail Omar Guelleh on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the independence of his country.
26 Kim Yong-nam meets with Victor Wei, Belgian ambassador to the DPRK (North Korea) who paid a farewell call on him, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang.
26 North Korea submits its nuclear declaration to China, host of the six-party talks that also include South Korea, the U.S., Japan and Russia.
27 Choe Thae-bok, chairman of the SPA, meets with the delegation of the Vietnam-Korea Friendship Parliamentary Group led by its Chairman Ksor Phuoc, who is also chairman of the National Council of the Vietnamese National Assembly, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall.

27 The North demolishes the cooling tower at its Yongbyon nuclear reactor with representatives of foreign news services and U.S. official Sung Kim in attendance.
27 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greetings to Joseph Kabila, president of the Democratic Republic of Congo, on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the independence of the country.
28 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says a white tiger and a lion, given as gifts, gave birth in the Central Zoo in Pyongyang.
28 The sports contest between provinces in the DPRK, which opened on June 9, comes to a close in Chongjin.
28 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greetings to Pierre Nkurunziza, president of Burundi, on the occasion of the 46th anniversary of its independence.

1 The KCNA says Choummaly Saynasone, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and president of the People's Democratic Republic of Laos, met on June 28 with the delegation of the Ministry of People's Security, led by its Minister Ju Sang-song, visiting Laos.
1 Kim Yong-nam receives credentials from Abdullah Mohamed Al Maainah, new ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the DPRK, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall.
2 The KCNA says Premier Kim Yong-il sent a message of greetings to the 29th meeting of heads of government of the Caribbean Community.
