SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from July 24-30, 2008.
24 The economic and commercial councilors' corps in Pyongyang visits the Historic Site Associated with Fatherland Liberation War on the 55th anniversary of the armistice agreement that effectively ended the Korean War. North Korea claims that it won the conflict and refers to it as the "Fatherland Liberation War" against the U.S. Imperialists' Invasion.
24 A meeting is held in Pyongyang to celebrate the month of solidarity with the Cuban people.
24 Kim Yong-nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), sends a congratulatory message to Ram Baran Yadav upon his election as the first president of the Republic of Nepal.
24 The State Academy Beryozka Dancing Troupe of Russia -- named after N. S. Nadezhdina -- gives a performance in Wonsan, Kangwon Province.
24 Singaporean President S. R. Nathan meets with the visiting DPRK (North Korea) delegation, headed by Foreign Minister Pak Ui-chun, at the presidential palace in the city-state.

24 A seminar in the field of social science takes place in Pyongyang to mark the 1,310th anniversary of the foundation of Palhae and the 1,090th anniversary of the foundation of Koryo. Palhae and Koryo are ancient kingdoms related to the Korean people.
25 Alexander Matsegora, charge d'affaires a.i., and other officials of the Russian embassy in Pyongyang visit the Monument to Victory in the Fatherland Liberation War on the 55th anniversary of the end of the Korean War.
25 A concert titled "Song of the Heroic Korean Victors" is given by the North's Korean People's Army (KPA) Song and Dance Ensemble at the Historic Site Associated with the Fatherland Liberation War on July 25 on the 55th anniversary of the end of the Korean War.
25 Senior officials of the party, army and state, the chairman of a friendly party and leading officials of working people's organizations, ministries and national institutions visit the Historic Site Associated with the Fatherland Liberation War on the anniversary of the war's end.
26 The North's Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reports that the DPRK acceded to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia with a ceremony in Singapore on July 24.
26 The KCNA reports that the "Complete Collection of Kim Il-sung's Works," Vol. 74, is released by Workers' Party of Korea Publishing House.

28 The Central Committee of the North's Workers' Party of (North) Korea (WPK) sends a message of greetings to the National Executive Committee of the People's Democratic Party of Nigeria on the 10th anniversary of its founding.
28 A delegation of officials of the Communist Party of China (CPC) led by Li Jengzhen, director of the Party History Research Centre of the Central Committee of the CPC and deputy director of the Party School of the Central Committee of the CPC, arrives in Pyongyang by air.
29 The KCNA says talks between Foreign Minister Pak Ui-chun and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem, who is deputy prime minister of Vietnam, were held in Hanoi on July 26.
