SEOUL (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronological review of major developments related to North Korea from Nov. 13-19, 2008.

13 An inter-Korean joint seminar denouncing Japan's alleged moves to distort history and seize the Dokdo islets is held in Pyongyang.

   13 The North's Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says the April 25 Film Studio of the Korean People's Army (KPA) recently produced the feature film "Follow What We Are Doing."

   14 Kim Yong-nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK (North Korea) Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), sends a message of greetings to Mahmoud Abbas, chief of the Palestinian National Authority, to mark the 20th anniversary of the proclamation of the State of Palestine.

   14 The KCNA says Kim Yong-nam sent a congratulatory message to Nebojsa Radmanovic on Nov. 12 on his election as president of Bosnia-Herzegovina.

   14 The KCNA says thousands of hectares of new land has been obtained in the DPRK through rezoning efforts over the last ten years.

   15 A delegation from the Air Force of the KPA, led by Colonel General Ri Pyong-chol, commander of the Air Force, leaves for Cuba.

   15 North Korean leader Kim Jong-il sends a message of greetings to Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad to mark the 38th anniversary of the corrective movement, "a historic day" for the Syrian people.

   15 Premier Kim Yong-il sends a message of greetings to Muhammad Nazi Otri, prime minister of Syria, to mark the 38th anniversary of his country's corrective movement.

   15 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greetings to Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad to mark the 38th anniversary of the corrective movement in his country.

   15 A delegation of the Democratic Labor Party of South Korea headed by its representative, Kang Ki-kab, arrives in Pyongyang.

   15 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il attended an art performance given by the crew of a warship under the KPA's Navy Unit 155, as well as a company under KPA Unit 833 and another under KPA Unit 1313. The performance marked the 32nd art festival of KPA servicepersons.

   16 Kim Yong-dae, chairman of the Central Committee of the North's Korean Social Democratic Party, meets with a delegation of the Democratic Labor Party of South Korea at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang.

   16 The DPRK girls' football team beats its U.S. rival, emerging as the winner of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup New Zealand 2008.

   16 The KCNA says Kim Jong-il attended an art performance given by soldiers of companies under Unit 235, Unit 851 and Unit 507 of the KPA at the 32nd art festival of KPA servicepersons.

   16 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of sympathy to Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet following heavy rains and flooding that hit several regions of Vietnam, causing the loss of lives and material.

   17 The KCNA says So Se-phyong was appointed as DPRK ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran, according to a decree of the Presidium of the SPA.

   17 Kim Yong-nam sends a message of greetings to the Sultan of Oman, Qaboos Bin Said, on the occasion of the country's national day.

   17 The KCNA says Rim Hoe-song was appointed as DPRK ambassador to India, according to a decree of the Presidium of the SPA.

   17 A government delegation of the Dominican Republic headed by Minister of government Jose Miguel Mejia, a delegation of the Defence Ministry of Mongolia headed by State Secretary Mikhlai Borbaatar and a Mongolian friendship delegation led by President of the Federation of Peace and Friendship Organizations of Mongolia D. Tsakhilgaan arrive in Pyongyang.

   18 Kim Yong-nam receives credentials from Finnish Ambassador to the DPRK Pekka Wuoristo at the Mansudae Assembly Hall.

   18 A film screening and friendly gathering takes place at the Taedong River Club for the Diplomatic Corps in Pyongyang to mark the 45th anniversary of the conclusion of the agreement on cooperation in technology and culture between the governments of the DPRK and Indonesia.

   18 A delegation of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development headed by Deputy Director General Hesham Al-Waqayan arrives in Pyongyang.

   18 An inter-Korean joint seminar on the roles of the political parties in upholding and implementing the June 15 joint declaration and the Oct. 4 declaration, the two inter-Korean summit declarations, takes place in Pyongyang.

   18 Kim Il-chol, minister of the People's Armed Forces, meets with the delegation of the Defence Ministry of Mongolia headed by State Secretary Mikhlai Borbaatar.

   18 DPRK Minister of Foreign Affairs Pak Ui-chun meets with the government delegation of the Dominican Republic headed by Minister of Government Jose Miguel Mejia, who paid a courtesy call on Pak at the Mansudae Assembly Hall.

   19 A delegation of the Democratic Labor Party of South Korea headed by its representative, Kang Ki-kab, leaves Pyongyang after a five-day visit.

   19 Wreaths are laid before the bust of "revolutionary martyr" Ryu Kyong-su at the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt. Taesong to mark the 50th anniversary of his death.

   19 Vice Premier Jon Sung-hun meets with a delegation of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development headed by Deputy Director General Hesham Al-Waqayan at the Mansudae Assembly Hall.

   19 The Polish government donates a combined rice thresher to the DPRK-Poland Friendship Jangsuwon Co-op Farm in Samsok District, Pyongyang, to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the DPRK and Poland.

   19 An exhibition of calligraphic works from Mongolia opens with due ceremony at the Pyongyang International Cultural Centre to mark the 20th anniversary of late President Kim Il-sung's visit to Mongolia and the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the DPRK and Mongolia.

   19 An agreement on cooperation between the Ministry of City Management of the DPRK and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development is signed in Pyongyang.

   19 A national memorial service for Ryu Kyong-su is held at the Central Youth Hall to commemorate the 50th anniversary of his death.
